Last Day in Hong Kong

Chee Cheong Fun for Breakfast
On the bus heading to airport...hubby smile la!!
Cafe De Coral @ airport: Suckling pig with BBQ rice
View all 7 photos...
Wow...thunderstorm this morning around 2.00 a.m. Scary..just like those thunderstorm we see on TeeVee. Hubby was snoring away......guess he must be so tired walking all day long. Woke up at 7.00 a.m. and without wasting anytime I went out alone to buy Loh Mai Kai (Chicken Glutinous Rice) from Cafe De Coral. So many people on the street rushing to school/work...and there is this shop selling lots of yummies for bfast ...i decided to go Cafe De Coral first before checking the place out on my way back.

Cafe De Coral was packed. The queue to pay was sooo long....but they super efficient. Really fast. That's why i love HK, no need to wait long and service is really No.1! Keep it up HK!!!!! Bought 5 Loh Mai Kais; one for papa, one for myself and 3 for my colleagues (they will be super happy about it). Hubby was shocked when he saw the Loh Mai Kai!!!! Hahaha.

On the way back to hotel, I went to check out the stalls selling breakfast...lots and lots of traditional chinese breakfast, let me recall, hmm...got porridge, sandwiches, dau cheong chi fan (soya based sticky rice), loh mai kai, dim sum, cakes, chee cheong fun, fried noodles, etc..... and i decided to try the chee cheong fun cos my sis claimed that HK chee cheong fun is the best. Ermm...am not a fan of chee cheong fun so i don't find it any special lor. Still prefer the chee cheong fun with dried shrimp selling at SS2 market.

The bus picked us up at 9.40 a.m...was a bit sad I don't want to go home lerrrr My hubby assured me that we will come again for Disneyland next April!! Yippee!!!

As planned, after checked in we headed to Cafe De Coral for the yummy Suckling Pig & BBQ Pork rice.....my hubby had Suckling Pig with Roast Pork Rice. Deeelicious!!!! As recommended by Nicole, i tried their red bean ice. Not bad too. Aiyoo...i love Cafe De Coral...and if I got money to invest, i sure would open a franchise in KL. After lunch, i went to Disney shop to get some toys for my beloved nephew. So cute la their products...how i wish i can bring all back. Bought a Buzz Lightyear toy and glow-in-the-dark baseball cap for Hoeh Hoeh. dragged my feet to the boarding gate...so that's the end of my trip lor. But am really happy cos this trip was really fun, although weather was so hot, we enjoyed the food and places we went. Complete satisfaction

Ooooooo yo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! looks sedapsssssssss ler the rice.... wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Fri 22-Jul-2005 18:48

3rd Day in Hong Kong!

Won Ton Mee: Awarded with Gold Medal by Hk Tourism Board
Me and Winnie at Wing Lai Yuen, Whampoa Garden
Me and Winnie at Langham Place, Mongkok
View all 8 photos...
Felt so refreshed .... i slept throughout the nite without waking up leh.....i guess the walk really exhausted me. We decided to try the Wan Ton Mee recommended by one of those culinary booklet. Must be good since it won gold award with distinction. Weather was super hot outside but we still decided to find the place which is quite nearby to our hotel. After walking for about 15 minutes...we located the shop...but that restaurant had moved out!!!!! So we searched the booklet for another shop nearby....well this one only won gold award, better than nothing la. After walking for another 10 minutes......we found the shop! Yeah Each of us had 1 bowl of wan ton mee...wah..the noodles really good. Springy feeling. The won ton was good too. So big..1 of the won ton is equivalent to 4 wontons in Malaysia. Cheap..only HKD9 per bowl.

Met up with Winnie at Tsim Tsa Tsui....so glad to see her again after more than 2 years. She still look the same...except her hair longer and permed. We took a cab to Whampoa Garden @ Hung Hom...cos hubby wants to have lunch at the Gourmet something something. All the good restaurants recommended by Choy Lan are there. We ordered the award winning sliced pork loin in szechuan sauce, tam tam noodle, iced cold ngau pak yip dipped with wasabi sauce and chicken wings. Price was reasonable...only HKD200. Hubby eat until so happy.

Next destination: Causeway Bay! My last trip there, i was shopping like no tomolo. But this time didn't manage to buy much cos they only left with odd sizes and also i didn't have the mood to search cos feelling too hot. We went back to hotel to rest before heading back to Mongkok for dinner. Guess what we have dinner??? Szechuan style steamboat. We really crazy lor cos it's oledi so hot and we still eat szechuan super spicy steamboat. But nice leh...shock!! My tongue actually felt numb, too spicy!!!! Food was great. I love the cheesy sausage and i requested two servings of it. Slurp

It was about 8p.m. after we finished dinner. Decided not to walk anymore cos we were really exhausted. We bid farewell to Winnie and took MTR back to hotel. Of course i don't feel like resting so early, afterall, it's our last nite here merrr but then my feet really tired lor. Sigh...went back and watched TVB series. So NOT ME By 10.00 p.m., i was snoring away.....zzzzzzzzzzzzz

2nd Day in Hong Kong!!!

B'fast @ Cafe de Coral ~ Gigantic-sized Loh Mai Kai..slurps!
Yung Shue Wan Village @ Lamma Island
Starting point of the trail to Sok Kwu Wan Village
View all 18 photos...
Didn't manage to sleep well but i was still full of energy cos too excited. As planned, we woke up early and went to have Loh Mai Kai at Cafe De Coral. Luckily the restaurant is about 3 minutes walk away from the hotel and opposite the MRT station. Each of us had 1 gigantic-sized Loh Mai Kai as hubby said he want to have one ALL BY HIMSELF. Of course i have no problem with that.

Weather was hot Been perspiring eversince i stepped out from the hotel. We went to the ferry terminal at Central and took a ferry to Lamma Island. Hubby suggested we head to Sok Kwu Wan instead of Yung Shue Wan cos there are more seafood restaurant there. When we reached the pier, we were told that we have to wait for an hour for the next ferry to Sok Kwu Wan so i suggested why not we head to Yung Shue Wan and follow the trail to Sok Kwu Wan??? Proved to be a very very wrong decision. WHY???? The trail took us more than an hour to reach Sok Kwu Wan. Well, an hour walk is nothing but if you walk under a sun which shines like no tomolo and as if it's not enuff to kill us, we actually have to cross two steep hills .......i was exhausted and wet cos i was sweating like nobody's business! Anyone out there who got water retention problem is recommended to take the trail!!! Hahahahahahaha However, managed to get some great pictures of the villages from the hills.

More than an hour later (felt like years), we finally reached Sok Kwu Wan. Wah...two of us was so happy and glad we actually survived the walk!! Went and look around the seafood restaurants and both of us was fascinated with the tanks and tanks of fresh seafood. Hubby so smart, managed to find one restaurant which offered a set lunch for two for only HKD198!!!!!!! It comes with Bak Cheok Prawns dipped with vinegar and soya sauce (super fresh and sweet), steamed scallops with glass noodles (we loves this), salt pepper squid and bamboo clams with black bean sauce. It was such an enjoyable lunch after the long and tiring walk....and we were so satisfied with the food and service. ICHIBAN!!!! Took the ferry back to Central and headed back to hotel to shower and rest...aaaahhhh....so refreshing!

After fully recharged, we went to Tsim Tsa Tsui....hehehehe......for my all-year-round-sale Esprit shop. Dim chi, i couldn't locate the shop! I remembered it was next to Benetton....but now it's converted to California Fitness . WHY???HOW COME SO CRUEL TO ME?? So upset and disappointed errrr....

Shopped around Tsim Tsa Tsui and hubby bought so many shirts from G2000. So cheap..about RM35 per shirt. So he took one colour each. And most importantly, the shirts are wrinkle free
Was supposed to meet Winnie...but it was too late by the time she reached HK...so we decided to meet the next day instead. We headed to Mongkok for Ladies Market....nothing much...we just kept walking, we were actually so tired that we don't have the mood to shop.

Hubby so upset that there was no ESPN Channel so he suggested to go to the pub downstairs to watch golf. So i went down with him although i was sooooo sleepy. Cheers!!!!!!! The game ended 1.00 a.m. and suddenly we spotted a bbq stall opposite road so being 'wai sik' we went to check the stall out. Wahh....super yummy looking bbq chicken wings. We had one each...super yummy. That definately made my day......yawwnn....zzzzz

Hong Kong! Hong Kong! Here i come!!!!!!

Yumm..best century eggs i ever had!
Yung Kee's award winning roasted goose....mmmm..
Our dinner: Roasted goose, steamed eels & stir-fry spinach
Hip Hip Hooray!!!!! Woke up early morning, feeling so excited for my trip to HK with hubby!!!! Had breakfast with my papa, poor boy, can see he is a lil bit upset that we go without him. Not my fault ler....Cathay no single or triple sharing package mer. Felt a bit guilty lor.

The cab came around 11.30 a.m. and our flight was at 2.00 p.m. so we ronda ronda a bit at the airport. The flight was okay but the food sucks!!!!! And so cheapalek ...they don't serve haagan daz for dessert anymore. DUH!!!!! Anyway.....good food awaiting us in Hong Kong.

Touched down around 6p.m. and checked into hotel around 7 something. Was super hungry oledi lerr....and immediately we headed to the MTR station to Yung Kee Restaurant at Central. Wahhh....unbelievable long queue..was told that we have to wait 40 minutes...but we came all the way oledi ma.....even hungry also have to wait lor.... zzz zzz. After waiting for 30 minutes...finally our turn. We ordered two serves of the century eggs. Super sedap la! Also ordered roasted goose, steamed eel with black bean sauce and spinach. The roasted goose was okay although hubby kept suspecting it was duck. We asked two waiters to confirm if it was duck or goose. Hahahaha. Eel was ok but i still prefer the one i had in Melb. The taste lack chilli padi ...but then it was still considered good. The bill came up to HKD400. EXPENSIVE! But expected lor.

After dinner we walked around Lan Kwai Fong ..so many people....Saturday ma! The weather was humid and i was getting a bit sweaty and sticky so we decided to head back to hotel to rest. On the way, suddenly out of nowhere, people were setting up stalls...so i went to 8 abit and bought a cute bag for HKD39 only.

Slept early as it would be a long long day tomolo.....zzzzzzz
