Curing Post-Melbourne Syndrome
I think the only way to cure my post-melbourne syndrome is to get away for a short trip(s). So where is next destination(s)????
4 January 2007...to celebrate the new year...i will be flying off to ChiangMai...hehehe. Yippee...actually two more weeks to go... They are now having this Royal Flora Fest...so it's the best time to go!!
Err err....just booked another trip few minutes ago...hehehe...3 March 2007 to Bangkok!! This time i will be spending the weekend there...so definately won't miss the Chatuchak market, rain or shine!! Am treating hubby to this Bangkok trip as 3 March is his birthday and also since he was so sweet and paid RM3k+ for my ticket to Melbourne for my birthday.

Yam Cake....my first attempt
For the past few days, i was struggling, cos i couldn't decide whether to make yong tau foo or yam cake. Yong Tau Foo would be much more complicated cos i need to make the fish cake myself and i have no idea how!!! So finally decided to make yam cake cos it's easier and takes shorter time. Well..since i can make Radish Cake, i don't think Yam Cake is a problem at all. Wahwah...sound so confident isn't it.
So proud of myself as the Yam Cake turned out nice. Texture is perfect, neither hard nor soft. Papa gave me a score of 9/10 while hubby gave me 9.5/10!!! Hehehehehehe!

Tis da season to be Jolly...fa la la la la la
Christmas is here again. Went to jalan-jalan at 1Utama with my hubby....still trying to get rid of our post-Melbourne sydrome. Sigh. Anyway....the place was packed!!! Probably cos of the year-end sale and also last minute shopping. We were so fascinated with the Christmas decoration they put up....so bright and sparkling and colourful. Can't resist taking some pictures of the Christmas tree.
Went to Bakerzin for a light lunch....we ordered pizza with flaky crust. Veli nice!!! But the iced coffee i had...doesn't even worth my time taking a photo of it. Sigh...i miss Melb's iced coffee..

Shanghai Hairy Crab
I always curious how the famous Shanghai Hairy Crab taste like. Being a fan of crabs, and even a bigger fan of crab roes, hubby finally brought me to King Crab Restaurant (opposite Kelana Jaya LRT station) to try it out. The place is huge and packed!!!!!!! Big queue in front of the restaurant...luckily we went a bit early. Their concept is similar to Unique Seafood...price fairly higher but extra cooking charge.Yummy...i spotted my favourite Geoduck and Mantis Prawns...but then my main focus was the Shanghai Hairy Crab.
Ok now...it comes in a different price range, from cheapest RM38 per/piece to over RM100 per/piece. After waiting about 10 mins for the waiter to take order (they seriously got manpower problem), we finally ordered our dishes. We ordered two hairy crabs and he asked crabs from which river? So i asked what's the difference. One is cleaner and one is not so clean. DUH!!! Of course the cleaner one la!!!!! So we ordered the RM48 per piece range. Then he asked again, male or female? So I asked again, what's the difference. The waiter said...got got...maybe take one of each and you will see the difference. DUH!! Whatever! We also ordered Marmite Spareribs, Clams and Veggie in Soup.
The Hairy Crab was really good. The roe is so different from the normal mud crab...so sweet and you don't even feel jelak after that. Good Good Good!! Totally enjoyed the crab. Spareribs was ok...very tender but i find it a bit saltish. Clams was good, cooked with soy bean paste and chilli.....very aromatic...i love the gravy. Veggie was so so only...baby bak choy cooked in fish based soup. I only took half bowl after discovering a hair inside it. YUCKS!!!!
Total damage for the meal was RM150+. Actually the crabs already RM96...so actually the price quite reasonable. Hubby promised to bring me there again for the hairy crabs.

Hubby wanted to watch basketball game on TV, so we decided to cook instant noodle we bought from Melbourne as breakfast. We tried the Nissin Seafood Noodle with XO Sauce. Wow..the small sachet of XO sauce flavouring is soooooo delicious. The soup was so good that we finished it to the last drop.
Then we share a packet of Korean KimChi Instant Noodle which we can also find in Malaysia. This noodle is thicker and i like this more than the Nissin texture. Soup was good too...spicy and hot hot hot. Definately made us wide awake after Hahaha!
For dessert, I opened the box of Decadent Choc Chip Cookies (only available in K-Mart) which Pam has been telling me how good it is. Wow.....really yummy. Lots of chocolate chips and it's not too sweet. Yummy!! Real satisfaction!

Remember i mentioned in my previous post about the fondue set i bought in Melbourne??? Tonite we decided to try it out. We melted some 'Extra Creamy Lindt Milk Chocolate' to be dipped with boysenberries and blackberries that hubby carefully brought back from Melb. Boysenberry a bit soft oledi so i wallop the blackberries which are still in good condition, while hubby finished off the boysenberry. It was yummy....but cannot have it all the time though...cos the amount of chocolates you have to melt is A LOT A LOT as compared to just eating it like that. FATTENING OOOOOHHH

Life Goes On....
Feeling so much better already, learning to accept the fact that Leon is now gone...and am very very lucky to be with her during her last few days. But i think just give me a few more days and my emotion will be back to normal. Still watery eyes whenever i think of her
Called Melbourne yesterday and Hoeh Hoeh was very happy to talk to me on the phone...although the TV always get most of his attention. Hehehe.....kids grow up very fast...maybe the next time i see him, it's different already. And as he grew up, he might not call me 'YIYI' as passionate as he is now. Well...that's life i guess.
Pea... Yesterday i went to pick him up from boarding after work. He was so excited to see me...and he was running around so happily and tripped a few times. Hehehehe...i only managed to calm him down by hugging him. Gave him some dog food bought from Melb and he loves his new soft toy too! Hubby and I spent some time cuddling and tummy rub him on bed and he loves it. My precious pea ...

The day i dreaded most finally came.....it's time to go home and i don't want to go home. Hoeh Hoeh was very upset too when he saw us packed...and he stomped his feet and said "Yiyi can't go home!". I was already so depressed to go home, with Leon's death, i double upset. Well...have to go home as i still got a 4-legged furry brat waiting for me to pick up. Pea pea will go crazy with all his pet food i bought and also a cute rudolph soft toy.

In Ever Loving Memory of Leon Wong
Leon passed away this morning.....i was first to discover when i was doing my usual routine greeting to Leon every morning. Leon is very old, at least 16 years old, as i remembered clearly i first met her in 1993 and she was already 3 y.o that time. Bro-in-law and hubby buried her at the backyard.
Leon is very special to me. She is my first dog i ever cuddled and hugged, slept together on a same bed, first dog i ever bath for. During my 3 years uni in Melb, we even bonded further as she was always there for me, happy or sad. We shared the same room, same bed, same blanket and even same pillow. I remembered whenever we played hide-n-seek and if she couldn't find me, she would complained to my sister. She was smart too...in fact....too intelligent for a dog, but i never treated her as one...she is like my sister.
So many sweet memories now flashing back to my mind, feeling so depressed but yet felt glad that she waited for me to come back and see her for the very last time. Am glad that i managed to feed Leon her last meal and gave her some favourite treats. I really think she waited for me and know that am going home today....and let me send her off.
Leon, you will deeply be missed and MuiMui love you forever and ever.
